Everything About The Quartzsite RV Show Is Big!

The Quartzsite Sports, Vacation, and RV show (often known as the Quartzsite RV Show) is a huge RV trade show. You’ll find loads of cool RV gadgets and tech, food vendors, and just about everything else underneath the 70,000 sq. ft tent that houses a good part of this show.

Walk outside and find the latest RVs, food, vendors, and many people! The always popular Quartzsite RV show draws more than 100,000 attendees checking out more than 200 exhibitors. The event is billed as the largest RV trade show in North America.

Look For These Big Names At The 2023 Quartzsite RV Show

While you’ll find a vast variety of vendors at the Quartzsite show, there are some big names you won’t want to miss seeing. Here is a sampling of many:

When Is The 2023 Quartzsite RV Show?

This year, the week-long Quartzsite RV Show is happening from January 21 to January 29. Doors will open at 9 am and close at 5 pm every day except the last day. Doors will close at 3 pm on January 29.

Entry to the show is free, and you can stay and browse the offerings, enjoy the food, and people-watch to your heart’s content until closing.

Where To Find It

The Quartzsite RV Show is easy to find. It’s located at 700 S. Central Boulevard. It’s easy to access, and parking is ample and free at the showgrounds.

Camping Information

Sleepy Quartzite gets too hot for most people’s comfort in Spring, Summer, and Fall. For this reason, the population of Quartzite is around 3400 permanent residents. But in winter, daytime temperatures are comfortable enough to attract snowbirds from the Northern states and even Canada.

Quartzite blossoms in January and February, with up to 1,000,000 RV visitors in January alone. And the town is ready for them with plenty of camping on BLM land, long-term visitor campgrounds, and private RV resorts and campgrounds.

Most RVers who come to Quartzsite are attracted to the warm temperatures. But also free camping on nearby BLM land or cheap camping in local Long Term Visitor Areas. However, if you like to camp with power, water, and sewer access, you can choose from over 50 full-service RV campgrounds in Quartzite. Here is the lowdown on each style of camping in Quartzite:

BLM Campsites

BLM land surrounds Quartzite and becomes very popular with RVers in January and February because it is free and offers more spacious campsites than you’ll find at one of Quartzite’s RV campgrounds. You won’t find any services here, but camping is allowed in any type of vehicle or tent. Be sure to register with a BLM volunteer or staff member when you arrive at a BLM campsite.

Long-Term Visitor ArEAS (LTVAs)

Laposa LTVA near Quartzite offers camping, potable water, trash collection, pit toilets, and a sani-dump station for just $40/14 days or $180 for seven months in the fall and winter months. While most LVTAs in Arizona and California require a self-contained rig with a minimum affixed holding tank capacity of 10 gallons, Laposa does allow camping units that are not fully self-contained.

You must obtain a camping permit at the LTVA host entrance station orby contacting the Yuma Field BLM offices in Arizona. You can also pay for a camping pass at Recreation.gov. Then you’ll need to exchange it for a permit and decal at the Yuma Field Office. Some visitors report that you’ll need to print your camping pass to exchange it for the permit and decal.

Nude Camping At Laposa South LTVA

Nude camping isn’t for everyone, but it’s worth mentioning here, just in case you like to shed clothing when you camp. If you like camping in the buff, and want to join other like-minded campers, then you need to check out the Magic Circle in Laposa South. It’s a unique BLM campground because clothing is optional, and there are many nude campers there with all kinds of RVs.

RV Parks and resorts

If you want to camp close to the RV show, Quartzsite has you covered. There’s even an RV park right across from the show. But be aware that you’ll be camping in a desert, and most of the RV parks are like gravel parking lots with electrical, water, and sewer hookups. Quartzsite has Lots of Amenities For RVers

Aside from RV camping choices, Quartzsite offers everything that RVers often need. Whether you need fuel, propane, water, ice, or a dump station, you’ll find it in Quartzsite. There are two grocery stores in town that have the basics you’ll need at higher prices than many visitors are used to paying. It’s a good idea to bring plenty of food with you and your pet.

Dog Park

RVers with dogs will appreciate the large off-leash dog park in Quartzsite. The park has a grassy lawn, separate areas for small and large dogs, and agility obstacles that help to make it a fun space for dogs and owners to play.

Boondocking In Quartzsite

There are a few things you need to know about boondocking in Quartzsite. The one significant variable is the weather. It can be nice and warm during the day and quickly cool down at night. On average, highs in January average in the 60s, and the lows tend to get in the 40s (Ferenheight).

Also, be careful where you camp, as heavy desert rain can cause campsites and roads to wash out in certain places. Sudden winds are also common, so don’t leave awnings out or tents/shades unattended, just in case.

Be Prepared

• Be prepared for weather extremes.
  • Bring warm clothing as well as summer clothing, including a sun hat
  • Bring a generator with enough fuel to run your air conditioning as needed
  • Bring enough propane to run your furnace at night
• Bring food with you (this includes pets)- especially if you are on a diet requiring specialty foods.
• Bring plenty of medications if you or your pet need them
• Bring sunscreen
• Load up with lots of water in Quartzsite or at the campground if staying at an LTVA
• Empty your tanks before you go camping
• Have the right tools to get you on the road if you break down. At the very least, bring the following:
  • A portable automotive battery charger
  • A tire inflator
  • A spare tire
  • An adjustable wrench. Some will cringe at this, but a crescent can be a lifesaver when you don’t have the correct wrench with you.
• Don’t leave pets unattended in the RV during the day. Dogs and cats can die in a hot RV if something goes wrong with the air conditioning while you are away. You could also invest in a Waggle RV temperature and humidity remote monitoring system. That way, if something goes wrong with the air conditioning while you’re gone, you’ll get an alert on your phone, and you can be back at the RV before it gets too hot.
