Z Kitchen Review - MasterCard Restaurant Week 2020 Experience (2024)

Z Kitchen is a Lebanese owned restaurant in Lagos. The restaurant has been around for a little bit and the space Z Kitchen occupies used to be Westafco but story for another day. We are here to review food and thats that on that.

So Restaurant week happened from the 9th of November and ended last week on the 30th of November and here I am still thinking about all the food I did not get to eat (lol). We were able to go to 4 and here, we share our review of our MasterCard Restaurant Week #MCRW Experience 2020. Speaking of restaurant week, can’t quite figure out what happened last year as the year before it was Visa Restaurant Week #VRW.

Anyhoo, Z Kitchen is a really beautiful space. I must have visited this place about 4 times but the funny thing or maybe annoying thing is, I end up going here in groups and just get lost in conversations and forget to document the experience to share with y’all. This time, I was a lone diner. I typically side eye the menu options for Restaurant Week because somehow, some restaurants don’t take it as serious not realising it’s an opportunity to put your best foot forward and lock in some new customers; and because of this I just went with a mindset of “disappointment” or the whole dining experience ending in tears.

The pricing for 3-course dinner at Z Kitchen and for other fine dining restaurants tagged for Restaurant week was ₦15,000 and with Coca Cola logo on the menu, every meal comes with a complimentary bottle of co*ke. I got here super early (12pm sharp) which is when they open and bread rolls were not ready yet so was offered nuts.

Starters

There are 3 options to choose from for each course. I went with the signature soup for the day as it was easier because I had just adjusted my braces plus I’m on some sort of diet and wanted something light. The signature soup of the day was a ginger and carrot soup and my waiter – Ifunanya was really lovely.

Mains

For the mains, had the roasted Grouper Fish with some Turmeric Rice and fresh Tomato sauce. I had pepper sauce brought as a side too but the tomato sauce on its own was good to go. The rice was not too bad but was somewhat bland but really just okay. Add a little salt and have pepper sauce and tomato sauce with it and you are good to go.

However, the co*ke served was a little flat but I managed it like that.

Thoroughly enjoyed 😋

Dessert

There were also 3 options for dessert and I was thinking of getting the Twix Tart until Ifunanya told me to try the Banoffee Pie that it was amazing. Took her word for it and trusted her suggestion. Banoffee is a popular English dessert, banoffee pie = bananas + toffee. A rich combination of different textures and flavors. Banoffee pie combines a cookie/biscuit or graham cracker crust with silky dulce de leche, bananas, and homemade whipped cream. Honestly this was rich rich and I could go back to Z Kitchen daily for this which would be so wrong and do harm to my waistline. As I type this, I can still taste it in my mouth.

This image may not look like anything is going on because its covered in cream but was so good!!!

Was really happy with my experience here and the menu selection for Restaurant Week was not bad either. I’ll definitely come back to Z Kitchen if not for anything but for the Banoffee.

Z Kitchen Lagos is opened daily – on Mondays from 6pm – 11pm and on Tuesdays to Sundays 12pm – 11pm. Reservations are required
